These are a few of my favourite things… Honey the English Bulldog

In the third of our series on the Hope teams favourite things, we’re turning to our furry brand ambassador, Honey the English bulldog. A daily face at our Hathersage office, Honey has been broadening her horizons since she joined us (and her dad Phil) earlier in the year and she thought it was about time to have her say on what’s good.

So settle down somewhere comfy and enjoy Honey’s favourite things.

Favourite building - Burns animal foods factory

I am a huge fan of the Burns Animal Foods factory in Bolton. I think it smells brilliant, and is full of lots of really really exciting stuff that I very much want to snuffle round and probably chomp at. When I went to visit, though, it turned out that my dad really wanted to visit the Northstone site, Airie, which is nearby which apparently Hope Architects helped achieve planning permission or something.

This was a bit of a disappointment, I must admit, but even so, the place seemed quite nice. There were walkable streets, the houses were all very good looking, and there was a big area of open space on the site where I could run around and get exhausted, after only a few minutes. As housing estates go (and believe me, I get dragged round a lot of them) it was a solid 12/10

Favourite city - Sheffield

I grew up in Lincolnshire, and because of the work I had to do, I didn't get to go out much, which was a shame. As a result, I've not been to many different cities yet, but  since I've moved in with my new dad, I do get to go into Sheffield quite often, and I have to say it's absolutely brilliant! They tell me it's the "outdoor city" but whenever I go, we often go into pubs, cafes or restaurants or places like that, and they are always very friendly towards bulldogs. Apparently Sheffield is built on seven hills, which I'm not a big fan of, but thankfully loads of places have water out for me, and we don't have to walk very much because there's always someone who wants to stop and scratch my head.

We've recently been to look at the new linear park in Castlegate, by the River Don, and while I'm no urban design genius, I thought it was good fun - there are lots of good smelling plants, some of which I strongly suspect may have been peed on by other dogs, and that makes the whole tedious job of walking along the road quite entertaining. Definitely 14/10

Favourite object - stuffed honeypot toy

I have a small stuffed toy with my name on it. It's filled with a small bear that squeaks, and honeybee that squeaks, and a flower that makes a crinkling noise. If it chew on it just right and for long enough, I can get the smaller items out and chew on them separately. I can then chase the various parts underneath the sofa so I can't get to them and no-one else knows where they are. When this happens, I have to bump my head against the sofa repeatedly, making a clonking noise, until my dad comes and moves the sofa, so I can get them and start again. Best fun ever, 17/10.
